EXCEPTS FROM “THE POWER OF  SELF-IMAGING”

© Joel Johnson

Most people do not understand or believe the existence of self in a form other than what they see in the mirror. They live their life believing what they see in the mirror and what they think others see in them is who they are.  The scientific facts concerning the world in which they live are often ignored. Their so called ‘real world’ mental programming has so dominated their thoughts that they refuse to consider the existence of anything else.

A strong desire to change, the will to change, the courage to try, and the faith to believe it is possible will set you apart and allow you to be the person you want to be.

Dead giveaway

The thoughts of the mind reflect on the face and in the eyes.  You may try to hide your facial expressions and body language that show your innermost thoughts and feelings, but if one looks close enough into your eyes they will find your truth there. Even with extensive training it is extremely hard to hide thoughts and emotions that are naturally expressed in body language and facial expressions.

The fear of trying, the fear of failure, and yes, even the fear of success, show in our expressions when we are asked, "Why not you?  Why not try? Why not now?  Why not?  If not now…when?  If not you…who?”  The voice may answer firmly, but the eyes give way to your true feelings.

Self-talk

The negative thoughts, those self-defeating words that you repeat over and over again in your head, cause you to feel inadequate and direct your actions away from your intended purpose.

To be consciously aware that you are talking to yourself and aware of the negative words represents a step forward.  It is in the awareness that you are aware of the words you are saying in your head that will gain you freedom from ego transplanted thoughts.

To be consciously aware that ‘I’, the observer, is aware of the ego in action, is a major key to self-awareness and true enlightened consciousness.  It is the open door to self-discovery—finding your true self.

Fraud

Many people have a deep subconscious fear of being exposed as frauds.   Everyone wants to look good to the outside world and they want to feel good about themselves; however, everyone has those little secrets in their closet they hope will not be discovered.  Because of the hidden secrets in the closet, they believe they are putting on a face that does not belong to them and they often live their life full of guilt. Some people feel they do not deserve to be the person others think they are and they often worry about what will happen to them when they are finally discovered.

They worry about things from the past that they cannot change or control.  They bring their past into the present while worrying about the future, both of which do not exist accept as an idea in the present moment.  Many actually worry themselves sick, both physically and mentally, while keeping their secret hidden in the deepest darkest spot in back of the closet.

Their hidden secrets are their interpretations of what happened to them long ago  These deep dark secrets are not always true, but they are their own interpretation of what they believe to be true.  It is their secret story; a best seller…a future great movie, that they will tell someone one of these days.  Meanwhile, their secret continues to eat away at their self-esteem.  He realizes the only way to be free from this agonizing baggage is to expose it and deal with it…right now, but he assumes the pain will be more than he is willing to face.
